Taking pictures of fireworks is a challenge. Night pictures are always difficult, and even more so when the subject keeps moving around the night sky, changing in intensity, and never really letting you know when its going to be there. So… here is the first installment of the ones that cooperated. I think I took about 90 pictures in all.
I had Andy and Joey sit down on the bench so I could take some pictures for the Pull Up a Seat challenge. However, it became an Out and About when I started talking to Dave and Amanda Rice. What a wonderful couple. He is a professor in a couple of the colleges in the area, and we had a wonderful conversation.
That is what I love about my Out and About series. I get to meet a lot of people. Some of whom, will actually converse.
When the air is still… and the water is smooth… there be reflections.
Last week, my boys and I drove down to see my Dad, and stopped by my sister’s house on the way. My oldest, Andy, and her oldest, Madie, got their own special photo shoot. It’s the second of two photo shoots I’ve had with them. The first one was 11 years ago.
Heidi and I found another great seat for the Pull Up a Seat Challenge when were down on the river walk in Little Rock, AR. This was covered with vines, and made excellent shade. I can imagine it would be a great place for young men to propose to their girlfriends.
Some friends on Facebook posted a shot of the moon they took the other day and I asked them how they did it. I’ve never really been able to get any decent shots. Following their instructions, I took the following. I think they would have come out better had it not been so hazy.
Sometime over the last week, my blog surpassed 500,000 views with more than 250,000 visits. Not bad for my corner of the internet. I’ve been with WordPress since 2010.
I believe there is a deeper reason why we love fountains. They represent living waters, or waters that never cease to flow. For a culture that doesn’t live in the desert, this can sometimes be hard to grasp. But desert living will quickly remind a person just how important living waters are to life. Without water, we die. With stagnant water, we die. With living waters, waters that flow, we live. And with the One who is THE living waters, we truly live. You can read about Him in the ancient book.

I spotted these two budding photographers trying out a new camera.
It has been my desire to take some night pictures of the city streets after a rain fall for some time. This is harder than it sounds, since my wife and I tend to go to bed early every night. But since Corona Effect has taken place, I now take her to work every morning, usually before 6 a.m. The time for night pictures suddenly opened up and after an morning rain in late March, I spent some time driving around the streets, with tripod, camera, and a good deal of sampling shutter speeds. Here are three of the good ones.
Please note: outside of a few joggers, no one was on the streets. I attribute that to the Corona Effect.
One of the biblical truths that I have recently discovered, is that after Christ returns, He will make a new heaven and a new earth. In this new creation, those who have glorified bodies will walk, live, and glorify the King of kings. I think that places like the ones below are a small glimpse of the glory and beauty that the new heavens and new earth possess. In fact, something tells me that with all the beauty found below, it will pale in comparison to the new creation.
Yet, I rejoice at the beauty found above the town of Cloudcroft, N.M. It gently screams of the glory of our Creator.

This Victorian home was in the neighborhood where we lived in Terrell.
One can’t help but ask: was it really necessary to put a gate up and a sign? It seem obvious to me that one should not head out on the dam. But I’m not 14 either.
