The old Dallas County Courthouse is probably the most historic looking building in downtown Dallas. It was built in 1890 with Victorian architecture. The fine people of Dallas didn’t want to be left out of the latest architectural fads of the day, and made sure to include their own gargoyles, which were included on old churches during the medieval time period. I’m not sure what this says Dallas in the 1890s, that they felt they needed the throwback to the medieval period, but it is what it is.

This is the only photo of the doors. I know, missing the point. But I was trying to stay away from the entrance since I was in what my wife calls “hero mode.” I’m in this mode when I have certain protective devices with me. Those said devices are not allowed in museums and public buildings because the curators of such places tend to go ding-dong crazy over such devices, so I was keeping my distance.
If you look closely, you can see one of the gargoyles.
