Another great find in downtown Waco. If you are older than 40, you will remember the Gulf Station from your youth, along with Texacos and Essos. Shells survived, and Esso became Exxon. The rest have all been replaced by QTs, Sam’s Clubs, and Pilot/Flying Js.

Notice several things: there was no unleaded gasoline, and only one choice, unless you wanted their premium gas: no-nox. Then you had to go to another pump. This was also in the day when an attendant came out and pumped the gas for you, checked the air in the tires, along with your oil and water in your radiator, AND cleaned all your windows, all while you remained in your car. The price of gas, according to the pump, was .35 cents a gallon. That is a bit different than it is today. The biggest loss: the clean windows.

Please don’t think I’m lamenting the changes… just noting the changes.

Also noticed the vintage Ford Thunderbird. That was one sharp looking vehicle.
