This is the second installment of the true artists series, which began with Lara G. The series is based on students who are truly gifted and producing true art as opposed to the adolescent art found in so many art classes that captures nothing more than angst, anger, depression, and comic-book form characters.

The artist below is Maite G. As you can see, she has done an excellent job reproducing the original photo, especially capturing the subject’s eyes. What you also need to know is that she has a few layers to go until the skin tone is correct. This is one of the things I learned about the process she is using: it involves multiple layers to create a depth and character of the picture.
