Roger Ailes Responds to FBI Intimidation

foxnewsI love the way the Roger Ailes, the head of Foxnews, sent a letter to all employees stating that they will not be intimidated by the Obama Administration seizure of phone records and emails from Foxnews reporters. We need more people to stand up against this administration that will not hesitate to trample on the First Amendment rights of citizens and journalists. This is nothing but intimidation by a government that has a lot to hide. We all should be outraged, and demand accountability.

Here is what he wrote:

Dear colleagues,

The recent news about the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox News employees, including James Rosen, calls into question whether the federal government is meeting its constitutional obligation to preserve and protect a free press in the United States.  We reject the government’s efforts to criminalize the pursuit of investigative journalism and falsely characterize a Fox News reporter to a Federal judge as a “co-conspirator” in a crime. I know how concerned you are because so many of you have asked me: why should the government make me afraid to use a work phone or email account to gather news or even call a friend or family member? Well, they shouldn’t have done it. The administration’s attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth.

I am proud of your tireless effort to report the news over the last 17 years. I stand with you, I support you and I thank you for your reporting with courageous optimism. Too many Americans fought and died to protect our unique American right of press freedom. We can’t and we won’t forget that. To be an American journalist is not only a great responsibility, but also a great honor.  To be a Fox journalist is a high honor, not a high crime.  Even this memo of support will cause some to demonize us and try to find irrelevant things to cause us to waver.  We will not waver.

As Fox News employees, we sometimes are forced to stand alone, but even then when we know we are reporting what is true and what is right, we stand proud and fearless.  Thank you for your hard work and all your efforts.

Sincerely,

Roger Ailes

We definitely live in sad times when those in power don’t bother to honor the very Constitution they swore to uphold.

The Left Screams for “Justice!”

Foden20130416-MARATHON20130416020601

OK, let me be upfront, my cynical levels are off the chart. I know that I’m supposed to drop into prayer mode for the victims of the Boston massacre yesterday at the annual Marathon held on Patriots’ Day, but my ability to be shocked by news headlines has wained. After my initial emotions ran their quick course, my thoughts turned to how the “left” would respond by demanding more be done in the way of giving Obama more power and removing more rights from Americans.

Super Bowl Electrifying!

Yes, since there was a power outage, you can expect all kinds of headlines with the energy theme involved. Deanna Watson Miller, the editor of the Times Record News, the paper I worked for in the 1990s, pointed it out on Facebook, and I had to jump over to check out what the TRN had on their web page:

Roundup That Matters

There has been so much in the news lately that deserves comment, my response to it all is to do something else. Let’s face it, we live in overwhelming times and I have to remind myself daily that even in these times, our LORD is stil sovereign over the lives of individuals as well as events in our world. I’m grateful that the Triune God is truly God, ruling over the events and lives of men, and we are not left to ourselves.

But given that, here are a few events that really caught my attention.

Al Mohler Reports on a New Moral McCarthyism that has led to a Christian pastor being disinvited from Obama’s second inauguration. The pastor’s crime? He preached against homosexuality some 20 years ago. Mohler reports that the sermon itself was full of grace and truth, noting that Atlanta pastor Louie Giglio called for all sinners to repent and trust in Jesus, not just homosexuals. But alas, this is too much for those on the left. They must push forward for more “inclusion and acceptance” by running off people who actually are Christians and believe the Bible.

Mohler writes:

The Presidential Inaugural Committee and the White House have now declared historic, biblical Christianity to be out of bounds, casting it off the inaugural program as an embarrassment. By its newly articulated standard, any preacher who holds to the faith of the church for the last 2,000 years is persona non grata. By this standard, no Roman Catholic prelate or priest can participate in the ceremony. No Evangelical who holds to biblical orthodoxy is welcome. The vast majority of Christians around the world have been disinvited. Mormons, and the rabbis of Orthodox Judaism are out. Any Muslim imam who could walk freely in Cairo would be denied a place on the inaugural program. Billy Graham, who participated in at least ten presidential inaugurations is welcome no more. Rick Warren, who incited a similar controversy when he prayed at President Obama’s first inauguration, is way out of bounds. In the span of just four years, the rules are fully changed.

I found the same attitude on Facebook back during the Chick Fil-A incident in the summer. There were those who were saying that anyone who held to historic Christian values regarding homosexuality were members of hate groups. If the common man really feels that way, we Christians are truly out of bounds to what is normal in our world. Thanks be to the God of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. He warned us that men would persecute us for His names sake. I was hoping though that persecution wouldn’t arrive so soon.

UPDATE: Click here for Randy Alcorn’s take on this issue, and here for Neil’s take on Randy Alcorn’s take. Both men have something helpful to add to the conversation.

Neil writes:

There are some great lessons here.  No matter how hard you try to please the world, it won’t work.  Of course many of them hate the message.  They are spiritually dead and will always hate it.  If they aren’t properly offended then you delivered the message wrong.  But you honor God by speaking the truth in love.

Randy writes concerning Giglio’s sermon:

If this message is “hate speech,” as it is called in some by some responders, then the Bible is hate speech, and no one can preach the whole Bible without being guilty of hate speech. Some people believe that and are honest enough to say it.

Journal News Proves Themselves Cowards — For those of you following the gun debate since the Sandyhook massacre, you know that that Journal News, which covers a couple of counties in New York, published the names and addresses of homeowners that has legally purchased guns with permits. (This is one reason why we should be opposed to permits. That is not a part of the Second Amendment).

Apparently in the aftermath, the people of the Journal News refuse to talk about and have hired people with guns to protect them. Wow! They went from being anti-gun to pro-guns in just a few weeks. More hypocrisy?

But I truly liked what Judge Jeanine Pirro on Foxnews truly had the the best response. She sent her producers to interview these people. They wouldn’t responds and Judge Pirro really rakes them over the coals afterwards. I do appreciate her passion, and please note that Judge Pirro was on the list.

Also, Rush Limbaugh pointed out that some bloggers published the names and addresses of the employees of the Journal News. They didn’t like it one bit. Journalists hate journalism being done on them.

Man Save Mouse, Hawk Eats Mouse — Here is a funny video clip of a man going to the trouble of releasing a mouse into the wild, only to have it eaten by a hawk. I guess you could say nature takes its course. Reminds me of nature’s lesson for poor Andy last week with his fish tank and Black Tamales (Mollies).

That video should give you a good laugh for the day. At least I hope it does.

Timothy Matters Most Influential Conservative People Poll

Jan Brewer was asking for us to vote for her as being one of the 100 most influential people according to Time Magazine. I did vote for her and you can too by clicking on this line here. I think she is influential because she has taken such a stand for doing what is right concerning our national security that the U.S. Justice Department has taken her on in court. Seems she is more righteous than the Justice Department and the Obama Administration. When our governors are more concerned with securing our borders than the President is, then we know we are in trouble. And, it is not just concern. He is actually opposed to Arizona securing the border. This should be expected from a man who tramples the Constitution on a regular basis.

The problem with Time’s poll is that it is dominated by the absurd and ridiculous. After all, Lady Gaga may have the MSM’s attention, but she does nothing to truly influence the direction of this country or culture. She is merely a by-product of culture, and while she may be very popular, I don’t think she is influential. The poll is also dominated by leftists.

In view of Time’s wretched poll, I have created my own. While I only have a few names listed, of those, who do you think is the most influential conservative on the list. Yes, Jan Brewer is on the list. Anyone who can stand on the tarmac of an airport and wag her finger in the face of the president deserves a nod.

Media Bias Obvious with White House Shooter If You Know Where to Look

The media bias shines through in blazing colors concerning this man who took some potshots at the White House if you know where to look for it. All you have to do is ask what political party Oscar Ortega-Hernandez is a member of and you see the bias. What? It’s not mentioned in any of the stories? Why not?

Because Oscar Ortega-Hernandez is NOT a Republican. If he were, the headlines would read Right Wing Extremist Attempts Assassination on President. Or it would be something like this: White House Shooter Linked to Right Wing Blogger Timothy Hammons! OK, probably not that last headline since most of my 12 readers know that I would never advocate taking out a president.

But you are getting the idea. If the shooter was the least bit tied to anything on the right, that would be the main story for the day. Since Ortega-Hernandez is probably a Democrat, the story will quickly die and we will never hear that he is upset at Obama for not being progressive enough.

Also notice that this man will end up being mentally ill. He may be mentally ill. But why is that all those who are on the left and do something like this, are declared mentally ill?

The media really needs to examine itself when covering these stories. If they are going to bring up affiliations every time a shooting occurs, like they tried to do when Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot, then they should do so when the person is clearly on the left politically. After all, if a political figure is shot or shot at, the motive is political.

Keith Olbermann Leaves MSNBC

I know this has some on the right rejoicing, like me and Mark who alerted me to the story, but I wonder where this man is going to land. Olbermann is the epitome of one who lacks civility on the left. He doesn’t have a gracious bone in his body and it’s good that he is leaving the show. I just hope that he goes into retirement and gets out of media all together.

I know those on the left will say: “But what about Fox.” Again, allow me to defend what Foxnews is doing. As a former journalist, I do know and understand what it means to be fair and balanced. Foxnews is both. I’m talking about the news portion of their programming. They are balanced, in that they have representatives from both sides of the aisle. That is what it means to be fair and balanced. You do get to hear both sides, not just the side that the MSM wants you to hear.

As for their opinion programming, they are balanced there as well. If you watch Hannity, O’Reilly, or any of the other shows, you will not only hear Hannity’s opinion on a subject, but the opinion of those whom he disagrees with. This was never true for the case was Olbermann. His idea of programming was to declare someone the worst person in the world, and then have people on the show confirming why he was right in his declaration. The word “balance” and “fair” were never to be found on Olbermann’s show.

Let’s hope that MSNBC actually replaces the blowhard with someone who will attempt to be fair and balance, even if they do have a viewpoint on the far side of the leftist aisle like the rest at NBC.

The Gunman Is To Blame In Arizona Tragedy

Peter Wehner, a senior fellow at the Ethic and Public Policy Center in Washington, called the comments by Krugman, Durbin, and other liberals “sickening.”

“People were taking a terrible human tragedy and using it as a political club, and there wasn’t even a moratorium of 24 hours, or even 24 minutes,” said Wehner.

Sadly, it didn’t take long for those on the left to start trying to link Jerry Lee Loughner to people like Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity and the Tea Party Movement. Loughner is the 22-year-old man who gunned down a federal judge, 8 others and Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Giffords is still in critical condition and with our prayers and the best medical treatment available, she should recover. (Above quote found here and here).

I knew the moment that I began reading about this gunman on Saturday that the left would try to pin the shooting on the right. Never mind the fact that this guy reads Karl Marx and idolizes Hitler, both socialists and leftist. The blame-game that the Democratic party relishes in started immediately. They are so accustomed to laying blame that they could not wait until some true facts were brought about. To try and link a nutcase and his actions is nuts in itself because we cannot control anyone other than ourselves.

Loughner truly believe in mind control and thought he was the one in control. He was. But only of his own actions. Let me clue you in: the one responsible for the shooting deaths of those on Saturday was the shooter, not anyone on the Left or the Right. Yes, Loughner read Mein Kampf, but that does not mean that Hitler is responsible for the death of the federal judge. Loughner is.

I know those on the left are itching to turn this into a political football. But to so means that they need to look at themselves as well. The moment that one of them screams for gun control is the moment we need to turn it back on them, and say that if you are going to scream for gun control, are you willing to ban all the books that Loughner read as well? Are you willing to ban those ideas that he fixated upon as he concocted his crime?

Guns are not to blame for what took place on Saturday. As much as I would like to lay blame on political ideas, they are not what caused the shooting spree. Loughner and Loughner alone is to blame. Not his childhood, his parents, his schooling, his lack of social skills, his lack of income, his eating habits, etc. He was the gunman, he is a killer, he needs to be dealt with accordingly.

UPDATE: Check out Neil’s post on this subject as well, here. Neil’s blog has the following and much more concerning the left’s hypocrisy:

This is just the latest excuse by the left to avoid making their case. Once again they can’t actually connect the violence to anyone on the right so they ask to be given a pass.

  • They couldn’t prove the Bush memos were real, but wanted to stick with the story anyway. This was the genesis of “fake but accurate.”
  • They couldn’t deny that Joe Stack (who flew his plane into an IRS bldg.) quoted the Communist manifesto favorably and disliked George Bush, but labeled him the “Tea Party terrorist” anyway.
  • They couldn’t deny that Richard Poplawski’s only connection to Glenn Beck was that he was disappointed in Beck’s debunking of a conspiracy theory he believed in. They continue to suggest Poplawski was a fan.
  • They couldn’t deny that Pentagon shooter J. Patrick Bedell was a registered Democrat and a 9/11 Trutherwho disliked Bush, but they wanted him to be a Tea Partier as well.
  • They couldn’t deny that Clay Duke was a leftist inspired by a left-wing movie produced during the Bush years, so they mostly said nothing at all.

I’m leaving out a bunch more. The census worker’s death who was blamed on the right, but which turned out to be suicide. The “right-wing” shooter at the Holocaust museum who turned out to hate Christianity and Fox News.

Also see the following story from Byron York. He writes about the hypocrisy of journalists urging caution after the shooting at Ft. Hood, but were quick to lay blame for Saturday’s shooting at the feet of Sarah Palin.

In Tucson, Arizona, a 22 year-old man named Jared Lee Loughner opened fire at a political event, gravely wounding Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, killing a federal judge and five others, and wounding 18.  In the hours after the attack, little was known about Loughner beyond some bizarre and largely incomprehensible YouTube postings that, if anything, suggested he was mentally ill.  Yet the network that had shown such caution in discussing the Ft. Hood shootings openly discussed the possibility that Loughner was inspired to violence by…Sarah Palin.  Although there is no evidence that Loughner was in any way influenced by Palin, CNN was filled with speculation about the former Alaska governor.

I was hoping to hear Rush today on this issue but I wasn’t able to listen. Here is what he posted on his web site:

RUSH: What an embarrassing weekend it has been for the media.  I mean, utterly, childishly, silly embarrassing.  I knew it was going to happen the minute I heard about the shooting. I got on the horn with some people, said, “You wait. It’s in the template. It’s gonna follow.”  So predictable, so childish, so immature, and it has led to a number of people making abject fools of themselves. The Sheriff of Pima County has made a fool of himself.  I don’t know if he knows it yet or not.  Most in the State-Controlled Media, the Drive-By Media, are illustrating why we call them “the Drive-By Media.” They are literally making fools of themselves to take an incident like this and to try to turn it into a political advantage by accusing people that have nothing whatsoever to do with this sordid, unfortunate event, as accomplices to murder.  It’s silly on its face.

I hope no one buys into this garbage by the MSM. They are doing just what Rush said, fitting this into their template for their own political advantage. Sickening.
