LORD’s Day Worship

The internet is all abuzz because today is Resurrection Sunday, otherwise known as Easter. There are lots of messages about the risen Savior, and the fact the the tomb it empty. There is a lot of excitement and I’m sure many are getting dressed in their finest clothes to go hear a message about the empty tomb, unless they are going to a big, liberal church, then they will hear about a spiritual resurrection, instead of a physical one.

My question to all: where was your excitement last Sunday? And what about three Sundays from now? The very reason Christians celebrate the LORD’s Day on the first day of the week is because of the resurrection. The true believer celebrates the resurrection EVERY Sunday, not just once a year.

Yes, it is neat that we can know the day that Christ arose from the grave, the first day of the week after the Passover. But the celebration of the empty tomb happens weekly when we remember LORD’s day worship, not just once a year.

    • Good! When we realize that every Sunday is important, because it is the day the LORD set aside for us to worship Him, it is truly freeing. We rejoice because of what He has given to us for our benefit.

  3. Agreed Brother,
If we are studying and meditating on the scriptures, and on Christ, there is probably seldom a day that we don’t reflect on His death, burial, and resurrection. We don’t need special days to celebrate these things, they have arisen from Judaism and paganism. I don’t have a problem with them entirely, but I have a problem with the emphasis and hoopla Christians put on them.

  4. I did not get all dressed up and did not see many at church all dressed up but it is nice at special times to focus on what our LORD did for us. In the Middle East right now, Christians are persecuted more on Resurrection Sunday and Good Friday by the Islamic State. As Col 2:16 says- “So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of CHRIST:” Let each honor every day as the Resurrection Day of our LORD JESUS or whenever but let us remember the essential is to worship JESUS CHRIST !!
