Why Babies Are Infinitely More Valuable Than Lions

Some of you may know of the uproar over the killing of a lion by a dentist who went to Africa in order to shoot the lion. It has all the Democrats/Liberals, etc., in a tizzy. Juxtaposed to this killing is the fact that Planned Parenthood not only kills babies by the millions, but has been caught selling those babies’  body parts for profit. Democrat/Liberals have barely noticed. For those Democrats/Liberals who read this, let me help you out on your moral understanding of the two events. Killing babies is murder, selling their bodies parts is sick. You should be outraged by the fact that we are slaughtering our own for your idolatry of sex. The shooting of the lion is sad, but minuscule in the grand scheme of things.

You need to know, as does everyone else,  that babies are infinitely more valuable than lions for one very simple reason: they are made in the image of God. Lions, kittens, puppies, gold fish, etc., are not made in the image of God. God was very clear when He made man, the last of His creation, the crown jewel of His creation, that we are set apart from,  and above, the rest of creation.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Only man was given God’s image. It is why we have a soul, and why we are eternal in nature. When I say that, what I’m saying is that at the moment of our conception, we become eternal beings because God is an eternal being. We have no end, and we will either spend our eternity in fellowship with God through His Son Jesus Christ, or we will spend eternity in hell. This is not true of animals. Cecil the lion is not an eternal being. Once his life came to an end, that was it. There is no afterlife for animals because they are not made in the image of God. They are JUST animals that we have been given dominion over by God. If a man wants to hunt an animal, he has permission from our Creator to do so. If an animal attacks a man, the man has permission to fight back and kill the animal so that the animal is no longer a threat to mankind. To not kill an animal that threatens humanity is foolish and shows ignorance on our part.

Not that this was the case for the dentist who shot Cecil the lion. But to cry out as if this was the ultimate sin by man, while we slaughter our children by the millions, is the ultimate wickedness (I cannot stress this enough!). Every child, even those not yet born, is created in God’s image and has an eternal soul. Those babies killed in the womb have eternal destinies. There is nothing in Scripture that tells us where those who die in the womb will spend eternity, to say so is to make an assumption that Scripture does not give us, therefore we need to do everything we can to ensure that those children are born so that they can hear the gospel. (For more on the death of infants, read The Loss of Infants: What is their Destiny? by Mark Jones.)

I know that most liberals will not accept this truth because most of them are functionally atheists. Yet the truth remains, we are all created in the image of God and therefore are worthy of life, even those in the womb’s of their mothers. The imago Dei has far reaching implications on how we view the world and determine what is right and wrong. Rejecting this fundamental truth about who we are as people has led to all kinds of abominations, one of which is what we are seeing with Cecil the lion, the worship of creation over and against the worship of the Creator. Denying the imago Dei is a fundamental error in belief, and is the reason Democrats/Liberals can advocate the killing of our own, while decrying the death of a mere animal. When you ignore God’s word (the 66 books of the Bible), it leads to nothing but absolute madness in the sight of God.

What Libs do not realize is that God will eventually destroy all of creation. Just as He brought a world-wide flood to bring destruction upon a wicked and perverse generation, so too will He bring destruction on our wicked and perverse generation. No matter how much Dem/Libs try to preserve the world, He will ultimately judge it, and them, for their wickedness.

But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men (2 Peter 3:7).

I’m not advocating a lack of stewardship when it comes to our planet. However, for the believer, we do so for God’s glory and because He instructed us to do so in the beginning. We don’t do it for the preservation of the planet. The preservation or destruction of the planet is up to God, not us. We really don’t have the ability to save it or destroy it. But what we can do is remember that we are made in the image of God, and teach others this truth, thereby helping them see the travesty that is the abortion industry. Unborn babies have value. Animals are important and to be taken care of like the rest of the planet. But when an animal is shot here or there, we should not lose too much sleep over, especially given that we are killing our own by the millions.

Happy Birthday Heidi!

Happy birthday Heidi!

I pray and hope you have a wonderful day. God has blessed you with another birthday and I hope and pray He blesses you with many more.

The boys and I have really had a wonderful time planning for your birthday. I realized as I was working through the gifts we were making for you, that they all had the same basic theme. But it’s a very good theme and I hope you love each gift we made for you. You are truly a wonderful woman, a blessing to our lives and a dear sister in the LORD. I rejoice that the LORD has brought us together. Have a great day.

Love, Timothy

Note: Joey picked all those flowers on one of our walks in the park and surprised Heidi with them. She wasn’t on the walk, but was waiting for us at the end of it.

The Glass is All Full

Glass All Full

Somedays, the glass if all full. In fact, spiritually speaking, most days the glass is full. It is on those days we take our eyes off Christ that we are deluded into thinking our glass is half empty.

Pizza Salt

One of the best ingredients to any pizza, along with pepperoni, sausage, cheese, more cheese, sliced green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, more cheese, cilantro,  garlic powder… well, you get the idea.

Why Donald Trump Is Resonating With So Many

I’m not a supporter of Donald Trump. I don’t think he is really all that conservative. His main goal is to make money, and there are lot of people who do that in this country who are not conservatives. Yet, Trump is resonating with a lot of people. In fact, to criticize him at all, is to bring on the wrath of the Trumpites who believe the Donald can do no wrong.

But that is not my point. My point is that people like him simply because he is standing up and fighting back. We have watched far too many Republicans run through elections without fighting back. I guess that is because we are taking the higher road. That strategy got us two terms of Obama and has been detrimental to the country.

Trump continues to fight back, even attacking people in his own party. You have to give him that much. I just hope the other 15 candidates learn a thing or two about standing and fighting for what you believe in, and fighting back when necessary. If they don’t, Trump is going to devour them in the primaries, and I really don’t think he would make a good president.

Andy Stanley Proves His “False Teacher” Status Once Again

Andy Stanley, the pastor of a mega-church in Atlanta, is at it again. He is showing us how gay marriage is perfectly acceptable to embrace, just as long as those who marry one another, are lawfully (well not even lawfully) divorced from their wives first. This is placing him in the category of “false teacher,” which, according to Christ, the Apostles Paul, Peter and Jude, means that he is the most wicked of men.

Danny Wright posted this on Facebook and there was not a single comment posted that was in agreement with Andy Stanley out of the 17 or so made. Mr. Stanley has decided that gay marriage is OK, just as long as you are legally divorced from your wife. He goes on to tell the story of how “conflicting” all this is, saying that Jesus was conflicted by it as well, and that what we need to do when it comes to gay marriage is pour out lots of grace, or some such nonsense. I’m quite sure that Jesus wasn’t the least bit conflicted about two gay men getting married. It was solidly in the “abomination” category of sins, a sin that He and the Father defined in eternity past and declared to us through His word (Christ’s word as well), both in the Old and New Testaments. But false teachers never let facts get in the way of the truth. Remember, it’s all about the money, the popularity, etc., when it comes to what drives a false teacher.

Summer Rain

Danny has a post on Cross Streets about his loathing of living in the desert. I felt the same way when I lived in both Roswell, NM, and Moses Lake, Washington. This is not a commentary on people who love such places. I’m just saying that I don’t like the desert. The people who live there and love it are fine with me. I just prefer greener pastures in a literal sense.

Danny writes:

It is dry, hot, dirty and dusty.  There’s no song here, only a raspy whisper,  like that the sound of the plea for water on the parched lips of a dying sojourner.  Its musicless “lyrics” are the same as its refrain.  “Water, water; need water.”  Every plant unfortunate enough to find its roots probing beneath the rocky surface warns with its dangerous spines and thorns against any who would dare impose on it for just a little of its life giving moisture.  The sparse dots of green that these plants present to the squinted eye all tell the same sad story.  For every green branch that has managed to eek life from the trunk in this lifeless place, there are two or more grayish skeletons of branches to match, dead and withered, which either still cling with a dead grip to the trunk, or which have finally collapsed amongst their decaying brethren below.  They warn all life in this place of its ultimate fate, death by thirst.  The Cholla, with its deceptively attractive spines that appear as fuzz, all stand amidst an above-ground graveyard of its own webbed skeletal remains.  And the aromatic choya, with its rock-hard and thin scraggly branches, fills the desert with the appropriate scent of “burnt”, should a fiery thunder cloud dane to provide a burst of water on its beggar underling.  Ahh, and then there’s the wash, which presents the longing eye with the appearance of water as it reminds of recently dried flows with its smooth stones and evidences of bygone currents.  It tortures taunts and teases with what might could be, if only… water.

In view of that, I took this shot two weeks ago during a downpour here in eastern Tennessee.  Hope that it helps Danny remember the greener days of his youth.

Glenn Beck is a Lousy Theologian

Glenn Beck recently made the statement that George Washington made a 4-hour covenant with God, which, in his opinion, means that the United States of America is the only other nation, besides Israel, to do so. He is saying that the good ‘ol USA is a covenant nation.

Watch the video, then I will explain why Beck’s theology is so far off base.

The real problem is that when it comes to the covenants that God made, the covenants were always covenants that God made! Not the other way around. God is the One who covenanted with mankind (the rainbow after the flood), with Abraham, with Israel after the Exodus, with David, and finally, in the New Covenant through Christ. God initiated all of those covenants, not the other way around. I know there were times when Israel would repent and renew the covenant with God, but those were renewals, not making something new. Under the New Covenant, nations do not get to covenant with God.

The Spiritually Dead and the False Christian

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins… (Ephesians 2:1).

J.C. Ryle writes about this in his article Alive or Dead, from his book Old Paths:

“Dead” is an awful idea, and one that man is most unwilling to receive. He does not like to allow the whole extent of his soul’s disease: he shuts his eyes to the real amount of his danger. Many and one will allow us to say, that naturally most people “are not quite what they ought to be: they are thoughtless,– they are unsteady,”they are gay,–they are wild,–they are not serious enough.” But dead? Oh, no! We must not mention it. It is going too far to say that. The idea is a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.”

But what we like in religion is of very little consequence. The only question is, What is written? What saith the Lord? God’s thoughts are not man’s thoughts, and God’s words are not man’s words. God says of every living person who is not a real, thorough, genuine, decided Christian,– be high or low, rich or poor, old or young,–He is spiritually dead.

This truth is one that no one likes to hear, especially those who are dead in their trespasses and sins. They will tell us that they are not dead, but spiritually speaking, they are. They still have enmity between them and the LORD, for they have not been born again.

4th of July! A Call For Dependence

I would say, “Happy” 4th of July… but seriously, happy? I refuse to put up a false facade of how wonderful and great our nation is. It isn’t wonderful. We are living in the last days, times when men forsake good for evil. Our country is at the lead in this wickedness and I am not the least bit happy about it. Whatever greatness this country once had is now past us. We are living in evil times and Christians need to admit this. We are in a spiritual war with the forces of darkness, and we must never forget this. We must never give up. But we must never forget that our government stands directly opposed to the truth of Scripture and against Christ Himself.

Episcopalians Continue March Into Obscurity

The Episcopalians voted this week to allow same-sex marriages in their churches (see story here). This really comes as no surprise given that they have had an openly gay bishop since 2003. All this recent addition of depravity will do is give cause to those true believers who still reside in the Episcopal church more reasons to leave. The church has become apostate and the numbers for the denomination have been in decline for the past 25 years. The real decline began in 2004, after the church ordained the gay bishop. This will add to the decline and the denomination will slide further into irrelevance.

Why Jesus Never Laughed

We watch, look, and wonder how it is that our culture can continue its headlong march into depravity. We think that there will be a turning point, where our country will suddenly turn around and actually seek holiness and God’s righteousness. But it is not happening.

Yes, I know the gospel is going forth in parts of the world where it has not been uttered in centuries, and that is a good thing. But alas, not in our country. We see headlines about pastors who fall into depravity and they feel no sense of shame. We see churches run off their pastors even though their pastors are being faithful in preaching the gospel. I wrote about one such episode last week, and learned of another one this past weekend.

The Idolatry of Acceptance

It is interesting to read posts by liberal Christians because you can see how their rejection of the Bible is manifested in the things they find important. These things are never centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ, which focuses upon the work and ministry of Christ in redeeming a people to themselves. Liberals never accept that because there is exclusion inherent in the gospel. It’s clear from Scripture that not everyone will be saved. Therefore they drop the gospel or redefine it. Layton E. Williams  has a piece called PresbyHonest, in which we see her gospel: one that accepts sinners, not so that they can repent, be renewed, and changed, but so the church can celebrate their sinfulness. She writes:

The work of the church is not merely to accept those of us who are transgender, asexual, bisexual, lesbian, gay, queer, and intersex. The work of the church is to accept and celebrate that the church—the body—is itself queer. The body of Christ is queer because it isn’t defined or bound by human constructs or binaries. It transcends and subverts norms and boundaries. It contains multitudes. But the body is also queer simply because its queer members are a vital component of its identity. When I was dating a cisgender (i.e., identifying with the gender assigned at birth), heterosexual man last fall, we were in a queer relationship. My queer identity made the relationship itself queer, even though he was straight. The body of Christ is queer in this same way because it contains queer identities.
