Texas Aggie War Hymn

OK, now that we are heading for a divorce with t.u. during the summer due to irreconcilable differences, don’t you think it’s time we update the Texas Aggie War Hymn? After all, our War Hymn is mostly comprised of our burning desire to beat the hell outta of t.u., and given that we won’t be playing t.u. that much (seen the scorned lover category), we need to go ahead an move on.

Let’s get over the entire t.u. think as Texas Aggies. Sure, they were a part of our history and we may play them again in the future, but they are acting like a 16-year-old girl that we broke up with and now they are giving us the silent treatment. We know of this silent treatment because their athletic director made the claim that their schedule is just too full to fit us in next year, or any year to come.

Given that, let’s truly move on and write them out of our War Hymn. The second verse is the only one that needs to be changed. It goes:

Good-bye to texas university
So long to the orange and the white
Good luck to dear old Texas Aggies
They are the boys that show the real old fight
“The eyes of Texas are upon you . . .”
That is the song they sing so well
So good-bye to texas university
We’re going to beat you all to
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem
Rough Tough! Real Stuff! Texas A&M!

I’m not sure how we would change it if we did. But it would be nice to think about it. Maybe something along the lines of: good-bye to Big 12 Football, so long to mediocrity… In fact, we really only need to change the first two lines of verse two.

OK, leave some suggestions. This is just for fun, since we are Aggies, we will never truly change the War Hymn. But it’s fun to think about.
