The Streets of Lufkin or The Night I Almost Landed in Jail.

[Note to my readers: the following is an incident that occurred back in the winter of 1984. I neither condone the actions, attitudes or events herein. This is merely what happened, as a part of my life, especially the part which Christ redeemed me from...]

My face was covered with fire ants, a cop had a foot on my wrists which were behind my back and was I glad to be alive, except for the part in which I was  “about to be arrested,” and “those damn fire ants.”

Officer! There are fire ants on my face.” I was trying to get his attention as he conversed with his fellow officers, who were busy arresting my three buddies, Richard, James, and Byron. Apparently, out of the 22 officers who moments before had had their guns drawn, safeties off, and pointed in our direction, they just couldn’t find four pair of handcuffs between the 22 of them. This is why one officer had his foot of my wrists and seemed perfectly content to let the fire ants camp out on my face and neck.

Kill The Easter Bunny

Yesterday on Foxnews, they ran a story about a school in Alabama where the principal was trying to ban the term “Easter Bunny” from the vocabulary of the students in an attempt to keep anyone from being offended. Yes, this is political correctness run amok.

As Christians, I don’t think we should be the least bit offended at all. Especially given the fact that the Easter Bunny has nothing to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Let the loon ban the term, and we should join her in doing so, given that the bunny is man’s tradition, not anything biblical.

Roundup That Matters

Another black preacher that gets the truth of the gospel. It’s not about voting for Obama because he is black. It’s about voting against Obama because he is opposed to the principles of Christianity. Bishop Harry Jackson points out four reasons he cannot vote for Obama.

Anti-Bullying is Really About Limiting Free Speech – Neil has an excellent piece on the anti-bullying movement, and how it is just another ploy for liberals to impose their warped view of control over free speech. Here is one of the key paragraphs:

In case there is anyone who still doesn’t grasp that antibullying is a euphemism for imposing liberal totalitarianism, Ontario’s Minister of Education Laurel Broten spells it out (please excuse the butchered English):

Texas A&M Aggies Move Up in the Polls — They may not last long in the polls, but right now the Texas Aggies are ranked at No. 18/20/20 in the BCS/AP/USA Polls. That truly is exciting, given it is their first year in the SEC. They were predicted to be doormats since they had a new coach, with a new offense and in a new conference. So far, they have managed to hold their own and are 5-1 in the season.

However, they are about to enter the really tough part of the season this coming Saturday when they face No. 6/6/6 LSU in College Station, TX. This will be their biggest test since opening the season against Florida.

After this Saturday, the Aggies go on the road to face Auburn, Mississippi State and then Alabama… all… on… the… road. Hopefully they can come out of that road trip with 2 wins.

Finally — I’m praying that Gov. Mitt Romney wins even bigger tonight in the debate than he did last time. I’m praying that the American people will have their eyes opened to the true Obama and that we will not be fooled again by the man who believes that America needs to be cut down to size.

Roundup That Matters 5/28

Obama Stands For Islam — but then, are we surprised about this? He is anti-First Amendment in his stance. People slander Jesus Christ all the time and yet, you don’t see Christians rioting and killing people over it. Only the religion of peace does that.

Divorce Rate Among Devoted Christians Much Lower Than National Average — For years we have been hearing that the divorce rate among Christians was just as bad as that among non-Christians… at 50 percent. That stat is erroneous and misleading in nature as well. But there is a new study out showing that those who are devoted Christians actually have a lower divorce rate than those non-believers. Here the key poing:

People who seriously practice a traditional religious faith—whether Christian or other—have a divorce rate markedly lower than the general population.

What the study shows is that the more a couple is committed to their beliefs, the less likely they are to become divorced.

Gloria Jackson Show — I like the following video from the Gloria Jackson Show. She interviews Comedian Brad Stine about freedom of speech. The more I listened to it the more I like Brad Stine. Not only does he discuss the problem of Marxism and political correctness, but he goes on to talk about the true equality we have because of Christ and Christianity.

BTW, I actually started paying more attention to Gloria Jackson when I was listening to a debate between a Calvinist and Armenian recently and she was one of the people who asked a question during the Q&A.

Paganini Humor — Another video that I have found very humorous, and entertaining are those put out by PAgagNINI, a couple of violinist who put humor to playing music. The following is one of my favorites in which they cover U2′s With or Without You. It’s beautiful. (Hattip Andrew M.)

And there is this rendition of Pachelbel’s Canon in D

Kudos to Kathy Ireland

I don’t really keep up with what is going on in Hollywood, so it is a surprise to see one star being openly pro-life. Kathy Ireland was awarded this week by “the YWCA Greater Los Angeles with the 2011 Phenomenal Woman of the Year Award at the “Saluting Women Who Are Instruments of Change” ceremony.” She also happens to be extremely pro-life and said that Planned Parenthood should not receive government funding. This shows she has true courage to stand up for her beliefs, especially when the Hollywood crowd is so opposed to those beliefs.

The other interesting aspect of her position is that she came to the pro-life point of view based solely on the science of the issue.

“I’ve never set out to win a popularity contest. I came from [being previously pro-choice], but when I was confronted with the science – and I spoke to top scientists throughout our country asking, ‘Would you please just show me some shred of evidence that the unborn is not a human being?’ and no one has been able to show me any, and I will continue to fight for those human rights until someone can show me otherwise,” she continued. “So a lot of people get mad at me, but that’s okay. I listen to criticism because sometimes there are things to learn, even if it’s wrapped in a nasty package.”

Many on the left love to say that we don’t come to our positions because of true thought and research, yet here is a starlet doing just that. Kudos to Kathy Ireland for standing up for her beliefs in the face of a hostile Hollywood crowd.

Coexist? Update

I just wanted to make sure I voiced my opposition to all the liberals who display the ridiculous “Coexist” bumper stickers. They are not giving this bumper sticker enough thought, for as long as one religion is oppressing the others, as does Islam, then this will never be a reality.

UPDATE: Since posting this back in November I’ve started watching for the bumper sticker just to see the type of people who put on their cars. In the last week, I’ve seen the sticker twice. Once on a car driven by a guy that looked like a 1960s hold over with a job, otherwise known as a college professor. The other was on the car of a young woman. I took it that she likes the idea, but is clueless as to why it will not work. I didn’t get a chance to speak with either party, so my statements are based on my observations, which are limited at best.

How would one go about speaking to such people given the chance? What would you say?

Gay Activists Target Chick-fil-A

Not content to be a constant thorn in our side by demanding imaginary rights, gay activists have targeted a Chick-fil-A in Pennsylvania for being bigoted. Chick-fil-A’s sin, according to the gay activists? They promised to donate chicken sandwiches to an upcoming marriage conference in February.

Yes, apparently the gay lobby can’t handle the franchises being generous towards those who actually believe marriage is only between one man and one woman. (I think this is more of that civility that Obama spoke about on Wednesday night. See here for more details.) Read about it at Townhall.com and here.

I hope Chick-fil-A doesn’t skip a beat in making their donations to those whom they support. I hope they let the term “bigot” roll off of them like a compliment. In other words, if we are going to be accused of being bigots because we stand for that was is right and just in the eyes of God, then take it as a compliment. I’m tired of those who cower whenever the term is bandied about by those on the left.  (Perhaps someone should come up with a picture of a badge that we can display whenever we are called bigots by the left — an irony of ironies because they are so bigoted themselves.)

BTW, CEO Don Cathy did state that the corporation values all people and have made many contributions over the years. You can see the video at the Townhall.com link above. Allow me to also say that all people do have intrinsic value because they are made in God’s image, even gay people. But that does not mean that we sanction or approve of their sin. As Christians, we are to stand for the Light of the World, with His light, which is His truth. No where does the Bible ever sanction homosexuality or even hint that there is such a thing as “gay marriage.” God defines marriage early in the Bible and human history: between a man and a woman.

In fact, He goes on to say that this union is what is meant by mankind being in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. This is why homosexuality is labeled as “an abomination” to the Lord. Those who practice such acts are abusing the image of God in them (Leviticus 18:21-23). It is interesting that this sin, which is an abomination, is so closely linked to idolatry. The two go hand in hand because those who practice this sin have their pleasure as their god, not the living and true God of the Bible. He is to be our pleasure and all-in-all, nothing else.

The point is that we should not back down from our positions just because some leftist sinner calls us a name. Chick-fil-A needs to continue espousing those beliefs that the company was founded upon and not let some immoral group of people persuade them to do otherwise. Remember that the Word of God says that God’s wrath rests upon these people, and that they are debased and immoral. Since this is the case, we should not be surprised that their view of things, especially that which God has ordained such as marriage, is warped and debased as well.

The best thing that Chick-fil-A and all Christians can do is continue to stand for the truth and not buckle under the politically correct posture trying to be foisted upon us by those like Obama and the gay lobby.

Side Note: If we do a Bigot badge, the acronym stands for “Being In God’s Only True Son). Someone will have to come up with a BIGOT badge… with a cross on it.

Democrats Hate Our Guts

P.J. O’Rourke of the Weekly Standard writes about the hatred that Democrats have for… everyone.

They don’t just hate our Republican, conservative, libertarian, strict constructionist, family values guts. They hate everybody’s guts. And they hate everybody who has any. Democrats hate men, women, blacks, whites, Hispanics, gays, straights, the rich, the poor, and the middle class.

Democrats hate Democrats most of all. Witness the policies that Democrats have inflicted on their core constituencies, resulting in vile schools, lawless slums, economic stagnation, and social immobility. Democrats will do anything to make sure that Democratic voters stay helpless and hopeless enough to vote for Democrats.

Most recent example of their hatred was poured out on poor Juan Williams, who spoke truthfully and honest about what he feels when he sees Muslims on an airplane. I like the quote the Mike Slater had on his radio program Tuesday morning, in which he quoted Joseph Story:

Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest; and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people in order to betray them.

The worst thing that can happen in America is for honest men and women to quit standing up against those who hate us and hate our values and beliefs. Let’s keep standing for the truth, and press on despite their attempts to get us to shut up. What NPR did was wrong. What the Democrats are dong to our country is wrong. What they say about those in the Tea Parties is wrong. Let us press on with the truth and not let them silence us with their names, labels and bigotry.

Newt Gingrich On WTC Mosque Proposal

Newt is always so clear on the issues. He talks about preventing the ground zero mosque and the real reasons we can say no to these Muslim extremists. He says that the WTC site should be a war memorial which would prevent the extremists from building all together. It’s absurd to think building there is OK and a commitment to freedom. It’s nothing more than a commitment to spinelessness… which is why BHO is supporting.
