DNC Not Supporting Roy Herron: Updated

I heard on the radio tonight that the Jackson Sun will be breaking a story tomorrow that the Democratic National Committee will not be supporting Roy Herron with campaign money. That is good news. That means they are reading the writing on the wall and have realized it will not do any good. Not that we should get complacent.

The point is that they are going to use their money elsewhere and hopefully, Roy Herron will lose big time as the conservative movement continues to spread.

Here is the link to the story in the Jackson Sun.

Fincher Clarification & Clean Campaign

I contacted Stephen Fincher’s campaign office last week because I wanted to go a little deeper into the accusations that Roy Herron has made against Fincher in the race for Congressional District 8 of Tennessee. Herron is coming out with some good sized mud balls, claiming that Fincher broke the law, etc., etc. Herron has to resort to such because, 1. he’s a Democrat, 2. he’s liberal, 3. can’t run on his own record, 4. he’s a Democrat (I know, said that one twice, but it was worth saying twice because to vote for a Democrat is to vote for Imam Obama and the Pelosi machine.)

Granted, I know this is from Fincher’s office, but here is what Wills Gardner wrote to me about these accusations:

Hey Mr. Hammons, here is some information you requested regarding Herron’s false attacks. Instead of talking about the issues, Herron is falsely attacking Stephen on his finances, specifically his loan, assets, and debt. Here are the facts:
The loan is legal.  Stephen got it legally from a local bank that he has done business with for years.  The FEC rules are long, but the general guideline is this : the loan is legal if the institution in question would give the loan if the person (Stephen) wasn’t running for office.  Stephen has good credit at the bank and has for many years–they were happy to offer the loan.

As for Stephen’s assets, Herron is doing what career politicians do : distoring the facts and spreading lies. The House form, which all candidates fill out, requires you to list assets, but there are many exclusions to this form. For example your home, among many other assets, is excluded. So they are attacking Stephen for not listing all his assets, when the form instructs you not to list everything. He is doing this because most people don’t know all these rules. He keeps trying to distract voters from the issues. Herron is trying to shift the focus away from his liberal stances on the issues and his 24 year voting record that proves it. We haven’t been talking about this too much because Stephen is focused on the high unemployment rate and repealing the health care bill rather than playing politics.

The accusation about hiding debt is yet another absurd accusation. The information is already publicly available with the Secretary of State.  How can you be hiding debt that Herron learned of because it is already public knowledge? Those debts are for farm equipment, which are exempt from financial disclosures since they are business-related.

Stephen has answered all these questions but the media has not been reporting it.

The last bit we know is completely true. The media isn’t going to give the Republican a fair shake, or any coverage unless the news is bad.

So given the fact that Fincher is a Christian, seeking to run a positive campaign on the issues, and Roy Herron, who also claims to be a Christian, is running on the issue of mud-slinging, I think we trust Fincher and his campaign. If Herron were committed to running ads on what he believed and why we should vote for him, other than Fincher is a bad apple according to the Herron campaign, then I might give him some credit. But since this is a typical Democratic play book campaign, Fincher again gets the nod.

BTW, here is the link to Fincher’s campaign ad. He is not slinging mud.

Roy Herron, Democrat = Dirty Politician

Once again, we have been subjected to the mudslinging in the Congressional race here in Western Tennessee. This time, by the Democratic nominee Roy Herron. He is another typical Pelosi style Democrat, resorting to lies and mudslinging in order to advance his cause.
Herron knows better than to run on his record, or his positions because anyone who knows anything about the political climate this year, knows you have to run as a conservative, whether you be one or not, i.e., Senator John McCain is back to being a conservative again. But Herron cannot run as a conservative, or a democrat, or what he is, a socialist liberal. So his best bet is to sling mud and lie about Stephen Fincher.
Which is really odd since I was given a book by Herron this past weekend on the fact that he is a Christian and why it is OK for Christians to get into politics. Never mind the fact that it is not OK for Christians to get into politics and lie about their opponents. No, the ends do not justify the means. All the accusations against Fincher by Herron have been cleared by Factcheck.com
The mudslinging really gets old.
A dear friend wrote the following letter because she has become so concerned about it.
Dear Ones,
Early voting begins October 15.  Please listen to the Truth about Stephen Fincher.  Also, please pass this on to your friends.  Lies are being told about Stephen and the truth needs to get out quickly.
First of all the $250,000 is a loan from a bank for the campaign.

They are doing this because most people don’t know all these rules. They are trying to distract voters from the issues. Herron is trying to shift the focus away from his liberal stances on the issues and his 24 year voting record that proves it.This has been not talked  about for Stephen is focused on the high unemployment rate and repealing the health care bill rather than playing politics.

Stephen has answered all these questions but the media has not been reporting it. So, we must do what the media is not doing–TELL THE TRUTH!!!

Also, remember to VOTE!!
In HIM,
Lucy

I hope we seen Roy packing, and elect Stephen Fincher. Enough of the mudslinging.

Ann Coulter’s Wit is in Full Force

I love Ann Coulter’s wit. She really nails the hypocrisy of establishment elites right between the eyes, especially when they are out in full force trying to get conservatives and Christians to abandon their principles so we can be more moderate and take back the nation with great moderate leaders like… John McCain. But let Ann say it:

Washington elites’ heads exploded when Christine O’Donnell won the Republican Senate primary in Delaware last week. Luckily they were all reading The New York Times’ op-ed page at the time, so the mess their exploding heads created was minimal.

The establishment’s complaints are confusing. They say O’Donnell has a problem because she’s never held a job in the private sector (like our president), didn’t pay her taxes (like our treasury secretary), and had her house foreclosed on (like half of the electorate).

They also accuse her of saying crazy things — but she’s running for Joe Biden’s old seat, so this may be an advantage.

This week, all we’ve heard about is how O’Donnell once said she went on a date with a guy in high school who claimed to be a witch. (So what? Bill Clinton married one!) Bill Clinton was credibly accused of at least one forcible rape. Those two seem about equal to you?

I haven’t seen hypocrisy like this since — oh, that’s right, since last week when CBS’s Bob Schieffer attacked John Boehner for smoking, after two years of the media’s ferociously avoiding the topic of Obama’s cigarette habit.

I had really hard time with that last one last week. They were giving John Boehner a hard time for smoking when BHO smokes up a storm on a regular basis. Could not Schieffer see the hypocrisy of his questioning when it was so clear to the rest of the country?

Ann goes on to write about how all Washington elites are saying Tea Party candidates are like Barry Goldwater, although no one is using that name except Washington elites. The name that Tea Partiers keep using is Ronald Reagan. He was the true conservative, not Goldwater. BTW, most people who are active today don’t even remember Goldwater. I know I’m approaching 50 and I don’t remember him.

Just another note, this is the second post today that I managed to write about Ronald Reagan.

The Great Divorce

Sent to me by one of my congregants. Always interesting to ponder.

Democrats and Republicans– — dissolution agreement

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950′s, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right, so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile, slate it up to irreconcilable differences, and go on our own ways.

Here is a model dissolution agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement.

After that it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don’t like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O’Donnell (you are however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move them).

We’ll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies, and illegal aliens. We’ll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s, and rednecks. We’ll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood.

You can make nice with Iran, Palestine, and France and we’ll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protestors. When our allies or way of life are under assault, we’ll provide them job security.

We’ll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, and Shirley McClain. You can have the U.N. But we will no longer be paying the bill. We’ll keep the SUV’s, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Volvo station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare, if you can find any practicing doctors (that is practicing, Howard Dean) who will follow to your turf (sic). We’ll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.

We’ll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and The National Anthem. I’m sure you’ll be happy to substitute Imagine, I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We’ll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty its best shot.

Since it often so offends you we’ll keep our History, our Name, and our Flag.

Would you agree to this? If so please pass it along to other like-minded patriots and if you do not agree just hit delete and hang on.

In the spirit of friendly parting, I’ll bet you ANWAR on who will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,

John J. Wall

Kudos Jim DeMint — UPDATE Daschle Bows Out!

I love it, I love it, I love it. Senator Jim DeMint, Republican/Conservative from South Carolina, has stood up Obama’s appointment Tom Daschle for health and human services. DeMint is pointing out what we have seen in Daschle for years, a lack of intergrity. He is calling on the president to rescind the appointment because of Daschle’s problem paying taxes.

DeMint told FOX News that Daschle’s failure to pay $134,000 in federal taxes reflects a “problem with integrity” that the government cannot afford to tolerate. DeMint spoke out against Daschle as a number of prominent newspapers, including The New York Times, called for the South Dakota Democrat to drop his bid.

“It’s very unfortunate with Tom Daschle that this has occurred, but the president needs to lead. He needs to step in here and he needs to withdraw this nomination,” the South Carolina Republican said.

DeMint said he came to that conclusion after it became “obvious” that Daschle knew about the tax problems long before his nomination and did nothing to make it right.

The average American would likely face criminal charges with tax evasion of this size, yet he did not address the issue until he was nominated,” he said.(Emphasis added).

I love this, DeMint is standing up for what is right. He will probably be skewered in the process, but I would rather he do what is right, than do nothing at all. Kudos to DeMint!!! Only if the rest of the Conservatives in congress would be as bold… maybe we wouldn’t become a socialist nation over the next four years.

Update: Daschle bowed out. Thank goodness.

Tom Daschle withdrew his nomination for health and human services secretary Tuesday, after fielding mounting criticism over his failure to pay more than $130,000 in taxes.

Governor Mark Sanford calls for Oversight!

Yup! My governor, Mark Sanford, is actually calling for some fiscal responsibility when it comes to unemployment benefits. The state is in current short fall concerning unemployment benefits, and unless he signs a bill asking for a $146 million loan, the state will not be able to pay any more unemployment benefits.

Why the hold out? He wants to set up an independent audit of the system asking those benefiting from unemployment certain questions, like, “why are you unemployed?” “How long have you been unemployed?” The audacity of Sanford! I love it. He actually wants to make sure those on unemployment, might actually deserve to be receiving the checks. Kudos!

I think more governors should ask for such oversight. That shows true fiscal responsibility, or at least moves in that direction. Read the full article here.

Trust the LORD with All Your Heart, and Get Out the Vote for McCain!!!

As I was standing in line to vote this morning, I was talking with a woman who also felt the way I did. I told her: “We’ve prayed about, we’re voting, and that is really all we can do. We have to leave the rest up to God.”

She quickly agreed. She believed in HIS sovereignty as well. We must really trust the LORD in this election because of what Obama brings to the table. He is so radical, and thug-like, that our freedoms will erode under his administration. I hope that doesn’t happen. But alas, if God chooses to raise this man up, we must lean on the LORD all the more, knowing that HE will bring us through these dark periods in our nation’s history. After all, perhaps the LORD has called us to be HIS light in the dark world for such a time as this.

That was part of my message on Sunday morning to my congregation. God may choose to put Obama in office with the Dems in full control of things. How are we going to respond? Will we respond to the darkness by hiding in the darkness as well? Or, will we be Christ’s beacons of light, offering real hope to the dark and ugly world? I hope it is the latter.

We need to no longer fear men and what they can do. Our God is truly sovereign over all things and HE can use all of this for His glory. I hope this is what we truly desire, that He is glorified. He is the ONE whom we should fear. I think for far too long, we have been putting our hope in men to turn our country around. Just think of Bush. For true conservatives, he has been a disappointment. Yes, he guided us through some tough waters, and we are safer because of it. But he has also lead us down a path of socialism that I’m not comfortable with. It makes us more and more dependent upon government, not God.

In either case of Obama or McCain winning, we truly need to rely on our Heavenly Father more and these men less. They will disappoint. Even Obama will disappoint his own followers, unless they are so blinded by their religious zeal for him, that he can do no wrong. The point is that our hope should not be in parties, or men, or even women, but in HIM. He can carry us through it, even the valley of the shadow of death. He is our Shepherd and cares for us.

Obama on Capital Punishment

IBD’s editorial for today shows how Obama and Dems are for capital punishment. But not the kind that would put deserving felons to death for their heinous crimes. No, the capital punishment they are interested in, is in punishing those who make capital. In other words, their entire economic plan is based upon their desire to go after those who actually make money in this country, take it from them and give it to those who don’t do anything at all. Sounds like stealing to me.

The most heinous aspect of this plan is to actually have the government take over all of our 401K plans. They would just take them from us, put them into the Social Security program, and we would no longer own them. How about that? Sounds like stealing to me. What right do they have to take something that we have invested in, and worked hard for? That is wrong, no matter how you slice it.

Here are a few words from IBD:

Look at just a few of the things he and congressional Democrats have in mind: Higher taxes on successful entrepreneurs (anyone earning over $250,000), higher taxes on capital gains, higher taxes on dividends, a possible raid on Americans’ 401(k)s, a takeover of America’s private health care industry, strict new limits on what CEOs can make, and the reimposition of the death tax.

Read the entire article here. Really, what part of the Dems is acceptable in this? This make them nothing but thieves. If they are willing to steal our retirments, what’s next? Our homes? Our private property? Next thing you know they will be telling who we can and cannot associate with. This is madness. I don’t see how anyone could vote for these guys.
