Check out Mike’s post here.
I don’t believe this. Obama is actually doing something that might actually help the country and the economy. He is letting moratoriums on drilling for oil expire, opening up drilling in Alaska and off the coast of Virginia.
WASHINGTON — In a reversal of a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, President Barack Obama is allowing oil drilling 50 miles off Virginia’s shorelines. At the same time, he is rejecting some new drilling sites that had been planned in Alaska. Obama’s plan offers few concessions to environmentalists, who have been strident in their opposition to more oil platforms off the nation’s shores. Hinted at for months, the plan modifies a ban that for more than 20 years has limited drilling along coastal areas other than the Gulf of Mexico. Obama was set to announce the new drilling policy Wednesday at Andrews air base in Maryland. White House officials pitched the changes as ways to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil and create jobs — both politically popular ideas — but the president’s decisions also could help secure support for a climate change bill languishing in Congress.
Ah yes, the bats are cracking down in Florida and in Arizona. But they are not cracking for Obama, as he strikes out again… A little bit of poetry for our president. Enjoy.
I just couldn’t pass this one up. It’s priceless. Dan Rather is showing us his racist tendencies, and while the MSM is ignoring this, you can watch it here. Just imagine if a Republican had said these very same words. The liberals would be clawing at their own panties trying to bring the Republican down… but alas, fellow panty-wearer Rather gets a pass.
Hattip: Mike’s America.
I wanted to update this by adding Neil’s comments on true racism from the left. I hope he doesn’t mind. His site is Eternity Matters. Here was his response to race baiting:
Fact: The candidates you support oppose school choice, because they like union donations more than black children. That’s racism.
Fact: The candidates you support keep abortion legal and it kills blacks at a rate three times that of whites. See where Planned Parenthood puts their clinics. Investigate Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. She was a eugenicist that paid off black preachers to encourage them to have their members sterilized, among other things. She wanted to eliminate the undesirables. Abortions kill more blacks in a day over and above whites than the KKK ever dreamed of. That’s racism.
Fact: The candidates you support profit by keeping blacks poor and uneducated. That’s racism.
Fact: People like you use blacks as some sort of trump card so you can scream RAAAAACISM whenever you are losing the debates (which, apparently, is always). That’s racism.
Hey, have you visited Detroit lately? It is a petri dish of Liberal politics and education policies. Like other big cities, Democrats have had virtual monopolies for 50 years. How’s that working out for the black folks there?
Homework assignment: Watch MSNBC tonight — you know, the ones who scream RAAAAACIST all the time. Tell me how many black news people you see. I’ll wait here.
Compare Bush, who put many blacks in high level positions based on their merits, then compare that to Democrats.
Look at liberal companies like HP, who load up the “Diversity” groups with black executives but barely have any elsewhere.
. . .
Protesting wasteful gov’t spending and socialism is not racist. Playing the race card because your arguments suck is racist.
It was too good to ignore. I appreciate Neil for his clear, logical thinking. His site is excellent.
Can you believe that even the press secretary is trying to foster this notion? That is why I’m saying that it is Obama’s administration that is putting forth this lie. When Biden says something, we all know he is just flapping his jaws. But when the press secretary tries to support the idea, it is a policy of the administration to lie about the victory in Iraq. The troop surge that they opposed, the funding that they opposed all worked, and now they are trying to claim credit for it. Obama has no class. He has no nobility whatsoever. He should return to the nation of his roots and leave this country alone.
BTW, check out the column by S.E. Cupp on Obama’s complete failure at last week’s prayer breakfast. She writes:
While today’s speech was perhaps the president’s most muscular discussion of faith to date, it was rife with incongruities and contradictions that reveal just how incomplete his understanding of American faith actually is, regardless of what Ms. Kornblut tells us an unnamed adviser said.
The worst misstep of today’s speech? When the president said that “God’s grace” is expressed “by Americans of every faith, and no faith, uniting around a common purpose, a higher purpose.”
Uh, no it isn’t — unless my definition of atheism is different than his. Most atheists insist that God’s grace most certainly is not expressed through them, and that there are no “higher” purposes. While we may all come together for “a purpose” – like relief work in Haiti, poverty, AIDS, or world hunger – no atheist I know would consider this God’s work.
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Obama’s fruits are lies and deception, more along the traits that Satan would practice, than those of a true believer redeemed and converted by the Truth. Realize that every time one sides with deception, he or she is siding with Satan himself, not the One who is the Way, Life and Truth.
So I didn’t watch his speech last night. No matter how well he reads that teleprompter, I’m not going to watch it, listen to and especially believe what he says. After all, how many times did he say he would never put a freeze on spending during his campaign speeches? Enough to let me know that none of the things he said mean anything and was only rhetoric to make the mindless minions believe he was bringing true hope and change. Politicians have no real hope to offer, and the only change Obama has brought with him are policies that worsen the economy and the debt in this country. That is NOT change that is good for America.
Despite his campaign promises to put a freeze on spending, that is what he brought last night. He is trying to pass himself off as a fiscal conservative. Look at what he said, and the facts:
OBAMA: “Starting in 2011, we are prepared to freeze government spending for three years. Spending related to our national security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will not be affected. But all other discretionary government programs will. Like any cash-strapped family, we will work within a budget to invest in what we need and sacrifice what we don’t.”
THE FACTS: The anticipated savings from this proposal would amount to less than one percent of the deficit — and that’s if the president can persuade Congress to go along.
Obama is a convert to the cause of broad spending freezes. In the presidential campaign, he criticized Republican opponent John McCain for suggesting one. “The problem with a spending freeze is you’re using a hatchet where you need a scalpel,” he said a month before the election. Now, Obama wants domestic spending held steady in most areas where the government can control year to year costs. The proposal is similar to McCain’s.
I do like the GOP’s response to Obama. I found this at Mike’s America. Mike also has a post on Alito’s look of disbelief as Obama scolded the justices. He also offers a letter to the editor of his local paper that is worth reading. Check them out after you listen to Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s response to Obama and his massive quest for socialism. McDonnell makes it clear that this is not a path we can remain on if we want to remain free. If Obama’s plans continue, every single household in America will owe $100,000 to help support all the new plans. Sorry, I don’t have that. Obama must be stopped and fail. Watch the video.
This is what I am talking about, true conservatism, which means smaller government. It means government that is actually run by the people, and not the elitist that are there now.
At the TimesOnline: “absurd decision on Obama makes a mockery of the Nobel peace prize. Michael Binyon, who is writing the piece, goes on to say:
Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of America’s first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world.
Just the fact that Jimmy Carter won the thing in 2002, and Al Gore won it in 2007 shows us what a joke that prize really is. Neither one of these men have done anything to bring peace to the world. What have they brought us? Well, for Carter: embarrassment that we elected such a man as president. Gore: more ridiculous speculation about our ability to destroy the planet. Remember, according to Gore, we only had 10 years left to live because of global warming. The same ridiculous claim Ted Danson made back in the 1980s. Hhm? We are still here!
Now… the silly award has gone to Obama for… what? The talk or speculation that he might, if he gets around to it, and everything goes his way, bring some sort of peace? The guy cannot even win Chicago the Olympic bid, much less bring peace on any real level.
This is a sinful and fallen world. Unfortunately there are only two ways to bring peace. One is with weapons, and then you have to have a war to bring it about. The other is through the means of the gospel, which those on the Left resoundly reject. In fact, if I’m honest, there are those on the right that resoundly reject the gospel as a means of peace as well.
But the point is that the peace these laureates have brought… well, is no peace at all. The award is a real joke.
BTW!!! This is my 1,000th post! I was going to do a post just on the fact that this is my 1,000th post, but my wife gave me grief about it. “You are blogging about blogging?” Well, yes! That is part of blogging. So I won’t post on posting 1,000 blogs… just sort of amend another blog, like Congress amends so many of their bills. However, I will gladly post my 72 hours before I vote on it so the public can read it. Something Congress doesn’t think is necessary.
George Will hit’s it on the head. In his latest column, he shows us just how self-center Obama is when it comes to things like the Olympics.
Both Obamas gave heartfelt speeches about … themselves. Although the working of the committee’s mind is murky, it could reasonably have rejected Chicago’s bid for the 2016 games on aesthetic grounds — unless narcissism has suddenly become an Olympic sport.
In the 41 sentences of her remarks, Michelle Obama used some form of the personal pronouns “I” or “me” 44 times. Her husband was, comparatively, a shrinking violet, using those pronouns only 26 times in 48 sentences. Still, 70 times in 89 sentences was sufficient to convey the message that somehow their fascinating selves were what made, or should have made, Chicago’s case compelling.
Will also points out how empty Obama’s speeches really are writes:
Nine days before speaking in Copenhagen, the president, addressing the United Nations General Assembly, intoned: “No one nation can or should try to dominate another nation.” What was the speechwriter thinking when he or she assembled that sentence? The “should” was empty moralizing; the “can” was nonsense redundantly refuted by history. Does our Cicero even glance at his speeches before reading them in public?
Of course, the answer to his rhetorical question is “no!” Obama is far to in love with the image he has created of himself. That image is quickly fading for many Americans, and many never bought into it. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, Obama’s image will fade for him as well, and he will start governing with some wisdom instead of the empty rhetoric that he blathers in such places like the U.N. Security Council, or in front of the IOC.
As has been noted by others, Obama can give a great speech. But he lacks any ability whatsoever in pursuading anyone. That is a good thing when it comes to health care. But ver bad when it comes to protecting our nation.
