Roundup That Matters

Another black preacher that gets the truth of the gospel. It’s not about voting for Obama because he is black. It’s about voting against Obama because he is opposed to the principles of Christianity. Bishop Harry Jackson points out four reasons he cannot vote for Obama.

Anti-Bullying is Really About Limiting Free Speech – Neil has an excellent piece on the anti-bullying movement, and how it is just another ploy for liberals to impose their warped view of control over free speech. Here is one of the key paragraphs:

In case there is anyone who still doesn’t grasp that antibullying is a euphemism for imposing liberal totalitarianism, Ontario’s Minister of Education Laurel Broten spells it out (please excuse the butchered English):

Texas A&M Aggies Move Up in the Polls — They may not last long in the polls, but right now the Texas Aggies are ranked at No. 18/20/20 in the BCS/AP/USA Polls. That truly is exciting, given it is their first year in the SEC. They were predicted to be doormats since they had a new coach, with a new offense and in a new conference. So far, they have managed to hold their own and are 5-1 in the season.

However, they are about to enter the really tough part of the season this coming Saturday when they face No. 6/6/6 LSU in College Station, TX. This will be their biggest test since opening the season against Florida.

After this Saturday, the Aggies go on the road to face Auburn, Mississippi State and then Alabama… all… on… the… road. Hopefully they can come out of that road trip with 2 wins.

Finally — I’m praying that Gov. Mitt Romney wins even bigger tonight in the debate than he did last time. I’m praying that the American people will have their eyes opened to the true Obama and that we will not be fooled again by the man who believes that America needs to be cut down to size.

Obama Approves of Grumpy Old Biden

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh yesterday after the VP debate and he pointed out that what we saw of Joe Biden is exactly what the Democratic Party has become. For those of you who didn’t watch the debate, Biden came across as mean, grumpy, condescending, arrogant, aloof, and seemed to make light of some serious issues by laughing all the time. The entire performance angered quite a few people and most have seen Biden and the Democratic Party for what they are.

The news this morning is seeing that Obama approved of Biden’s behavior. He thought Biden did an excellent point. Obama said:

“I’m going to make a special point of saying that I thought Joe Biden was terrific tonight,” Obama said as he descended Air Force One, according to a media pool report. “I could not be prouder of him. I thought he made a very strong case. I really think that his passion for making sure that the economy grows for the middle class came through. So I’m very proud of him.”

He proved Rush’s point. If Obama is proud of Biden, then this is who they are and they are proud of it. They don’t mind being arrogant and condescending. They dont’ mind looking down on America and ruling from on high. They truly do think they are the smartest people in the room.

I truly do hope and pray that God spares us from another four years of this Administration. If Obama and Biden get reelected, I don’t think there will be another election in U.S. for president because I don’t think the U.S. will survive intact. It will end up going the way of the Soviet Union.

The Difference between Romney-Ryan and Obama-Biden in Six Minutes And a Glimpse of Paul Ryan

This video helps illustrate the difference between Romney-Ryan and Obama-Biden. The latter is about spending, growing government, hiding the truth about spending and growing the government and burdening the people. Romney-Ryan are about solutions, but not by growing the government and giving it more power. Watch and learn:

I am surprised by this pick because Ryan wasn’t on my radar. But when it comes to fiscal responsibility Ryan is definitely a great choice. Since this is what the country needs, and if Romney uses him in this way, he could really help get the country back on track fiscally.

Now… if there was a pick to help us get back on track morally.

Here is what Paul Ryan said in his acceptance speech, according to Townhall.com, which shows they are willing to take on Obama directly.

“America is a place where if you work hard, and play by the rules, you can get ahead……. We look at one another’s success with pride, not resentment. Because we know as more Americans works hard, take risks, succeed, more prosper,” Ryan said. ““We promised equal opportunity, not equal outcomes.”

Here is presentation Paul Ryan makes for the budget back in 2011. This gives you an idea of what is at stake concerning our fiscal future in this country, and an idea of what Ryan’s plan would do. There are three parts to it.

Part 2

Part 3

Use Obamacare to End Abortion

Yes, I’m extremely disappointed that the Supreme Court rule that Obamacare is nothing more than a tax increase. That being the case, the Court said that Congress has that right, so the country was just handed the largest tax increase in history.

I also recognize that there are those who do not have insurance and need it, however, I don’t believe this was the way to go. Since we are on this trajectory, now is time for Republicans to formulate a plan to end abortion through Obamacare. How? Simply by using this bureaucratic monster to delay women in getting abortion.

When a woman seeks to get an abortion, require that she must sign up for a three month course that teaches her the full implications of abortion, both biologically and psychologically. This way, she is not duped into believe that the life in her womb is just “pregnancy material.”

Once this course has been completed, then she needs to apply to a special board of health officials that will interview each candidate for the surgical procedure to take place. Then, she must file the appropriate paper work in triplicate… submitting it to all the appropriate branches of Health and Human Services, or department heads, who must read the forms, agree that she is a candidate for aborting, and grant her the service. At this point she must apply to another committee for an assigned and appropriate physician to perform the procedure and once he has passed all the legalities to perform the abortion, then he can do so.

But wait, there is more. Since the abortion doctor must also have the right number of nurses, they must apply for permits and be authorized to help the physician in this procedure for THIS patient, and once that is approved, then they too can assist in the procedure.

Once all this is done, the child, who is now 18 years old and graduating from high school, can be aborted… only by then, it will be too late.

Honestly, I’m trying to find some empty silver lining in all this. I really am shocked that it was Justice Roberts that sided with the liberals on this issue. What an absolute disappointment.

Roundup That Matters

Pastor Youcef still needs our prayers plus an UPDATE — as of today, Pastor Youcef is still thought to be alive in Iran even though he has been sentenced to death for converting from Islam to Christianity.

We know that God ultimately holds Pastor Youcef’s future in His hands, so we trust that whatever happens, God will be glorified and the gospel will go forward. But we still must pray for his deliverance and ask the LORD to have him spared from the radicals of Islam.

Here is the latest video on the case:

Not Afraid to Tell Her Story — Here is a post about Athena Dean who was involved in a terrible cult of mind control for the past 12 years. While in it, she lost her husband, family, home, business and car all because she fell under the Satanic control of cult-leader Tim Williams. Her business was running Wine Press, which was a successful small business until Williams and company showed up on the scene. Like many cults, Williams has left a long trail of broken Christians in his path.

Remember, we are to follow Christ, not men, especially when they twist Scripture to support their arguments. Whenever someone says that you should do something because God said so, and they point to the Bible to support their case, realize that this isn’t how Christianity operates. Athena also has a piece of the tactics of the cults.

Seven States File Lawuit over Obama Mandate — Good news. We see that seven states which include Texas, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma and South Carolina, are filing a lawsuit in district court to stop the Obama mandate that would require religious institutions to provide health care that would provide abortions and contraceptions that are against their religious beliefs. As we saw in my post yesterday, the so-called compromise, was not a compromise at all and the mandate as it was written is still the mandate that is being required by Health and Human Services, which is a violation of our rights guaranteed under the First Amendment. The mandate demands that those who believe it is fundamentally wrong to kill a child would still have to pay for services that kill children. With this issue and the issue of Arizona’s immigration law, it’s sad to see that Americans greatest opponent to freedom and liberty is our own president. Alas, but we tried to warn our friends and families who were so ga-ga over this man, yet they would not listen.

Obama Confident He Has Another Five Years — not if we have anything to say about it. King Obama declared to Univision that he has another five years to set his plans in place. There he is quoted as saying the following:

“Well, first of all … my presidency is not over,” Obama, who just a few months ago described himself as an underdog in the presidential race, said in a telephone interview.  “I’ve got another five years coming up. We’re going to get this done,” he said.

“I would have only broken my promise if I hadn’t tried,” he said. “But ultimately, I’m one man. You know, we live in a democracy. We don’t live in a monarchy. I’m not the king. I’m the president. And so, I can only implement those laws that are passed through Congress.”

Given that we know he lies and actually believe and does the opposite of what he says in public, he really does see himself as king. Just given that he made that statement is quite telling. He has actually thought about it, desired it, wished it, so he could do away with that pesky Constitution that keeps him from implementing all his socialistic programs. Thank God we do have the Constitution and we have people who are still standing up for it.
Runaway Slave Still Working for Release — The movie Runaway Slave is still working to be released on a wide scale. The movie was shown in Washington for its premiere to about 200 blacks, all of which gave the movie a standing ovation at it’s conclusion. The movie focuses on how Democrat policies have actually enslaved black people to the Liberal agenda. As on commentator on the movie said… “the Democrats want the government to become our god.” I think the political cartoon at the top of the posts illustrates the point. The more people who are dependent upon government, the more government controls our lives, the more power they have. That is socialism. Every country that has tried it has failed. You can see the failures in Obama’s policies already.
I saw this comment over at Neil’s blog by Roxeanne De Luca, about the hypocrisy of the left. It captures what the movie is trying to say, and the cartoon above:

Amazing smackdown, Neil. Why does the Left never discuss how their own failed policies cause the poverty they are trying to prevent? They make housing obscenely expensive via “free” money and mandates, then cry about how the “free market” caused the housing bubble. They make it nearly impossible to commit mentally ill homeless people, then can’t figure out why we can’t get people off the streets. They undermine the dignity of an honest day’s work, then can’t figure out why people refuse to get off welfare. Then, when they’ve gotten the government and their twisted interpretation of the Constitution to really make a muck of things, the “solution” is more government intervention. As the Queen of Swords and I were saying today, it’s like people who ignore you when you tell them to not eat ten deep-fried Twinkies a day, then, when they turn into whales, say that the only solution to their problem is to eat more deep-fried Twinkies, because eating boosts the metabolism.

Pastor Rick Warren Takes a Stand: Will You?

I’m not a fan of Rick Warren, his church or his methods, but I have to admire him for standing strong in the face of Obama’s encroachment of our Christian beliefs. For those of you who do not know, the Obama administration has mandated that all Christian organizations must provide healthcare to their employees that includes paying for abortions. This mandate violates the conscience of those of us who believe that abortion is murder, and therefore violates the First Amendment. Many Catholics have already started standing up to this tyranny by the Obama Administration, so far, to no avail. The Administration has basically said that we have a year to figure out how to violate our own consciouses so that we can comply with the mandate. Thank you King Obama for such grace in the matter.

Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in California and the man who prayed for Obama at the king’s coronation, has come out in a stand against his majesty. Warren sent the following twitter earlier in the week:

“I’m not a Catholic but I stand in 100% solidarity with my brothers & sisters to practice their belief against govt pressure,” Warren said. “I’d go to jail rather than cave in to a govement mandate that violates what God commands us to do. Would you? Acts 5:29.”

I like his boldness. I like the question that he asks at the end. Are we willing, as Christians, to give up our freedom in order to stand for the innocent of this country, and to stand against they tyranny of our current dictator? Are we willing to lose our access to Facebook, and Angry Birds in order to stand for what we believe in? Are we truly willing to suffer the sake of righteousness?

Sometimes I wonder about our country along these lines, especially the church in our country. The church is dreadfully weak because we have been so focused upon living the good life that we forget that sometimes Christ calls us to the cross before He shares His glory with us. I know that many do not like to think about such things, but it could be that Our LORD is calling us to stand up an fight against such tyrants like Obama, who trample on the Constitution daily, and promote the whole-sale slaughter of innocent children.

We need more men to stand up in face of King Obama and tell him enough is enough. He thinks he is right in telling us that we need to get over our consciences, but he need to get over his tyranny and return to being  a president with limited powers. It’s time to tell him that we didn’t elect a dictator or potentate, but a president that cannot do as he pleases.

This may mean we spend time in jail when the tyrant throws a fit. I hope Warren is ready to do so, and many more. It’s time to say enough! “Your tyranny was dealt with once in the 1700s with another king, we will deal with you in the same way.” Otherwise, we should accept the coronation as it was given back in 2008, and go back to playing Angry Birds.

“O Lord, Jesus Christ, may we not fail You in the challenges before us!”

Top 10 Reasons BHO’s Presidency is a Failure

The outlook for BHO and his presidency continues to look dismal. People are coming up with reasons right and left why BHO is such a failure. Below are the Top 10 reasons why BHO’s presidency is a failure by Nile Gardiner of the UK’s Telegraph. He is pointing out what we on the right knew all along. Liberals tend to employ liberal policies which lead to liberal failures which lead to liberals  blaming everyone from predecessors to those of us on the right. Liberals can never admit that liberalism does not work. Just look at any third-world country, European country, or city run by Democrats (am I being redundant?). They are always in debt, screaming for higher taxes on the rich so they can buy and control the poor by the means of the hand out. This is never sound economic policy because it seeks to provide for those who are poor, and keep them poor. This is degrading to the poor because it keeps them in bondage to the state. They are basically slaves of the state, see the post below this one.

The biblical principles for the poor was to help them, but to do so in order that they learn to help themselves. Welfare does not do this, it intends to keep the poor coming back to the state. Even in the Old Testament, those who had land and were rich were to not harvest the corners of their fields so the poor could come and harvest what they needed. That provides dignity for them since they are gathering what they needed for themselves. In our system, the poor just have to stand in line and put up with low-level bureaucrats. Hardly any dignity there.

But again, those on the left are not really interested in helping the poor, just controlling them, and sticking it to the rich. They despise those who work hard, who have independent thought, who do not look to the government for all our sustenance and well being. What those on the left want, is us in bondage to government. Even if they get their way, it will not work. It will only lead to more failure. That is the evident world-wide. Just look at those countries that have socialized medicine, they are bankrupt and seeking ways to turn the health-care system back over to the private sector. So why do we want to let BHO run it?

Here are Gardiner’s reasons for BHO’s failure:

Here are 10 key reasons why the Obama presidency is in serious trouble, and why its prospects are unlikely to improve between now and the November mid-terms.

1. The Obama presidency is out of touch with the American people

In a previous post I noted how the Obama presidency increasingly resembles a modern-day Ancien Régime, extravagant, decaying and out of touch with ordinary Americans. The First Lady’s ill-conceived trip to Spain at a time of widespread economic hardship was symbolic of a White House that barely gives a second thought to public opinion on many issues, and frequently projects a distinctly elitist image. The “let them eat cake” approach didn’t play well over two centuries ago, and it won’t succeed today.

2. Most Americans don’t have confidence in the president’s leadership

This deficit of trust in Obama’s leadership is central to his decline. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, “nearly six in ten voters say they lack faith in the president to make the right decisions for the country”, and two thirds “say they are disillusioned with or angry about the way the federal government is working.” The poll showed that a staggering 58 per cent of Americans say they do not have confidence in the president’s decision-making, with just 42 per cent saying they do.

3. Obama fails to inspire

In contrast to the soaring rhetoric of his 2004 Convention speech in Boston which succeeded in impressing millions of television viewers at the time, America is no longer inspired by Barack Obama’s flat, monotonous and often dull presidential speeches and statements delivered via teleprompter. From his extraordinarily uninspiring Afghanistan speech at West Point to his flat State of the Union address, President Obama has failed to touch the heart of America. Even Jimmy Carter was more moving.

4. The United States is drowning in debt

The Congressional Budget Office Long-Term Budget Outlook offers a frightening picture of the scale of America’s national debt. Under its alternative fiscal scenario, the CBO projects that US debt could rise to 87 percent of GDP by 2020, 109 percent by 2025, and 185 percent in 2035. While much of Europe, led by Britain and Germany, are aggressively cutting their deficits, the Obama administration is actively growing America’s debt, and has no plan in place to avert a looming Greek-style financial crisis.

5. Obama’s Big Government message is falling flat

The relentless emphasis on bailouts and stimulus spending has done little to spur economic growth or create jobs, but has greatly advanced the power of the federal government in America. This is not an approach that is proving popular with the American public, and even most European governments have long ditched this tax and spend approach to saving their own economies.

6. Obama’s support for socialised health care is a huge political mistake

In an extraordinary act of political Harakiri, President Obama leant his full support to the hugely controversial, unpopular and divisive health care reform bill, with a monstrous price tag of $940 billion, whose repeal is now supported by 55 per cent of likely US voters. As I wrote at the time of its passing, the legislation is “a great leap forward by the United States towards a European-style vision of universal health care, which will only lead to soaring costs, higher taxes, and a surge in red tape for small businesses. This reckless legislation dramatically expands the power of the state over the lives of individuals, and could not be further from the vision of America’s founding fathers.”

7. Obama’s handling of the Gulf oil spill has been weak-kneed and indecisive

While much of the spilled oil in the Gulf has now been thankfully cleared up, the political damage for the White House will be long-lasting. Instead of showing real leadership on the matter by acing decisively and drawing upon offers of international support, the Obama administration settled on a more convenient strategy of relentlessly bashing an Anglo-American company while largely sitting on its hands. Significantly, a poll of Louisiana voters gave George W. Bush higher marks for his handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, with 62 percent disapproving of Obama’s performance on the Gulf oil spill.

8. US foreign policy is an embarrassing mess under the Obama administration

It is hard to think of a single foreign policy success for the Obama administration, but there have been plenty of missteps which have weakened American global power as well as the standing of the United States. The surrender to Moscow on Third Site missile defence, the failure to aggressively stand up to Iran’s nuclear programme, the decision to side with ousted Marxists in Honduras, the slap in the face for Great Britain over the Falklands, have all contributed to the image of a US administration completely out of its depth in international affairs. The Obama administration’s high risk strategy of appeasing America’s enemies while kicking traditional US allies has only succeeded in weakening the United States while strengthening her adversaries.

9. President Obama is muddled and confused on national security

From the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to the War on Terror, President Obama’s leadership has often been muddled and confused. On Afghanistan he rightly sent tens of thousands of additional troops to the battlefield. At the same time however he bizarrely announced a timetable for the withdrawal of US forces beginning in July 2011, handing the initiative to the Taliban. On Iraq he has announced an end to combat operations and the withdrawal of all but 50,000 troops despite a recent upsurge in terrorist violence and political instability, and without the Iraqi military and police ready to take over. In addition he has ditched the concept of a War on Terror, replacing it with an Overseas Contingency Operation, hardly the right message to send in the midst of a long-war against Al-Qaeda.

10. Obama doesn’t believe in American greatness

Barack Obama has made it clear that he doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism, and has made apologising for his country into an art form. In a speech to the United Nations last September he stated that “no one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. No balance of power among nations will hold.” It is difficult to see how a US president who holds these views and does not even accept America’s greatness in history can actually lead the world’s only superpower with force and conviction.

There is a distinctly Titanic-like feel to the Obama presidency and it’s not hard to see why. The most left-wing president in modern American history has tried to force a highly interventionist, government-driven agenda that runs counter to the principles of free enterprise, individual freedom, and limited government that have made the United States the greatest power in the world, and the freest nation on earth.

This, combined with weak leadership both at home and abroad against the backdrop of tremendous economic uncertainty in an increasingly dangerous world, has contributed to a spectacular political collapse for a president once thought to be invincible. America at its core remains a deeply conservative nation, which cherishes its traditions and founding principles. President Obama is increasingly out of step with the American people, by advancing policies that undermine the United States as a global power, while undercutting America’s deep-seated love for freedom.

Something has to give. We cannot continue down this road because BHO is destroying this country. Hopefully, in November he will become a lame duck, completely neutered of any real power.

Obama Doesn’t Lead Because He Doesn’t Know How

One of the weaknesses of Obama has really come to light with the BP oil spill. He doesn’t know how to lead. He is merely a politician, one who can say a lot to lead the simpletons into believing he is in control, but when it really comes to action, he is worthless.

When this BP oil crisis began, I first thought that Obama just did not care. He was merely going to use the oil spill to raise taxes and the price of gasoline. Remember, during the campaign he complained about the fact that gas prices went up too quickly. He wanted them to go up, just not so quickly that people realized it and complained about it. He wants high gas prices, but he wants to bring it about in such a way that no one will complain. Good luck with that.

What is sad is that his response shows something far worse than apathy. It shows his incompetence. He is incapable of leading on this issue. This leads us back to those days during the campaign when there were warnings about the reality that he has never done anything in his life, other than learn Chicago-style politics. He has never run a business, never accomplished anything of note. All he knows how to do is assess blame and point the finger. That is fine if you are a talk-show host, or even a blogger. It’s catastrophic if you are the president of the United States. The most he has done of note concerning the oil spill is say that he wants to meet with BP officials so he will know who’s ass to kick. How absolutely brilliant! Just what we need, the mentality of a someone in the high school club for pantie-wearing men. Instead of being angry at terrorists and those who threaten our safety, he is going to get mad at the only people who have actually tried to stop the oil spill in the first place: BP officials.

Please do not misunderstand me. I’m not trying to give the BP officials a pass here. The bear the full weight of responsibility in this oil spill, along with the environmentalists. But the BP officials are also the only ones working to remedy the situation. All Obama has done is point the finger… again.

I really like what Mitt Romney has had to say about this situation:

Has it come to this again? The president is meeting with his oil spill experts, he crudely tells us, so that he knows “whose ass to kick.” We have become accustomed to his management style — target a scapegoat, assign blame and go on the attack. To win health care legislation, he vilified insurance executives; to escape bankruptcy law for General Motors, he demonized senior lenders; to take the focus from the excesses of government, he castigated business meetings in Las Vegas; and to deflect responsibility for the deepening and lengthening downturn, he blames Wall Street and George W. Bush. But what may make good politics does not make good leadership. And when a crisis is upon us, America wants a leader, not a politician.

We saw leadership on Sept. 11, 2001. Then as now, black billows seemed to come from the center of the earth. Lives had been lost. The environmental impact was immeasurable. The looming economic impact from lost tourism was incalculable. Into the crisis walked Rudy Giuliani. While that was an incomparable human tragedy, how the mayor led New York City to recover is a useful model for the president.

Rudy camped out at Ground Zero — he didn’t hole up in his office or retreat to his residence. His presence not only reassured the people of New York that someone was in charge, it also enabled the mayor to assess the situation firsthand, to take the measure of the people he had on the ground, and to understand the scope of the crisis.

The president has many critical matters that demand his attention, but brief and tardy tours and being photographed with a smudge of oil on a sandy beach don’t work on any level. There is no substitute for being there.

Romney is a true leader, along with Guiliani. I would prefer either one of those men to Obama any day. Romney continues:

The president must personally lead the effort to solve the crisis. He cannot delegate this quintessential responsibility of his presidency in the way he delegated the stimulus bill, the cap-and-trade bill and the health care bill. It may be an instance of learning on the job, but it is a job only he can do.

The first rule of turnarounds is to focus time, energy and resources on what matters most. The president simply cannot treat this crisis like another of his many problems. The oil disaster could hurt millions of families, slam the regional economy, kill untold numbers of non-human lives and irreparably damage the planet. Among other things, he must not hold more rock concerts at the White House — I understand James Carville‘s venting: His hero fiddled as oil churned.

Finding fault is easier than finding answers. And worse, it paralyzes many of the very people who may be needed to solve a crisis. When Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast states, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco went on the attack; Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour went to work. His state’s recovery is textbook; hers is not.

President Obama’s instigation of criminal investigations of BP at this juncture is classic diversion politics — and worse, it will engender bunker mentality at a time when collaboration and openness are most critical. BP’s actions and inactions are reprehensible; it must be made to pay the billions upon billions of dollars that this spill will ultimately cost. But call out the phalanx of lawyers later — solve the crisis today.

The president can learn a good deal from the crisis leadership of men and women in government and in business. Giuliani is a notable example, but so too are Washington, Adams, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Reagan and Kennedy. In a time of national crisis, we look to our president to acknowledge, as Harry Truman did, that it is at his desk where the buck stops.

And even at Day 52, it’s better late than never.

It would be great if Obama actually realized he needs some OJT. But I fear his pride will not let him learn from others. That would mean that he would have to admit he is not King Canute, who declared that since his anointing, the planet would begin to heal and the seas would quit rising. There are times when you need help, and now is one of those times for Obama.

Another good column to read on this is Jonah Goldberg’s over at Townhall.com. Here is a sampling:

By now you’ve heard what he told NBC’s Matt Lauer. “I don’t sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar,” Obama told Lauer. “We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick, right?”

Riiiiiiight.

A creature of elite universities with a progressive’s love of technocrats, Obama is most comfortable leading colloquia of perfect-SAT-score propeller heads.

He once explained to an interviewer: “I would have loved nothing better than to simply come up with some very elegant, academically approved approach to health care. … But that’s not how it works in our democracy. Unfortunately, what we end up having to do is to do a lot of negotiations with a lot of different people.”

Ah yes, damnable democracy, if only we could get that out of the way, we could really get things done. Where have I heard those arguments before? But I digress.

OK, one more update. I found this at Wintery Knight.
