I have to say I am proud of the 112th Congress! They are beginning today’s session by actually reading the U.S. Constitution. What a novel idea. This will help cut through all the rhetoric and get to the heart of the matter: the law of the land. The Constitution is the law of the land, not one party’s ideas over another, but what it says. I know that deconstructionist immediately love to go to work by trying to show that the Constitution doesn’t really mean what it says, but that is because the deconstructionist care blinded by their own ideological musings.

Nonetheless, Congress is on the right track. Reading the law of the land, and then seeking to govern by that law. Read more here.

I just where a funny thing happened while it was being read. A woman shouted out “except Obama, except Obama,” when the part about the president being a natural born citizen. Hilarious.

House Republicans’ reading of the Constitution was interrupted Thursday by a woman who shouted “except Obama, except Obama” to the venerable document’s words on a U.S. citizen’s eligibility to be president.

Just as Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., was reading “no person, except a natural-born citizen, or a citizen of the United States” is eligible for the presidency, a woman in the visitor’s gallery yelled out that it did not apply to President Barack Obama.

Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, who was presiding over the House, banged the gavel and halted the proceedings, warning that such action from members of the public was a violation of House rules. The woman was quickly removed by Capitol police.
